I bought a HDMI DVD of this case was a high-definition set-top box. Does this pick up digital channels on the TV?

Unfortunately I have to say, no, a "luxury" DVDs. It will create a true HD picture, and it will not decode the digital signals of any kind again, not only during normal playback of HD DVD discs.
You do not get the TV, if that's what I know about, who want to play a DVD.
Do you need a proper decoder for your TV source to the television as playback of DVDs to watch.
